Day 1: Havana

Arrival in Havana

If you'd like to arrange your flights, please get in touch. We can get you good prices and convenient upgrades in a choice of airlines including Virgin Atlantic, Air Europa, Air France, KLM flying from most airports in the UK.

Meet & Greet at Havana Airport

A Cuba Direct representative will welcome you at the airport and invite you to our Welcome Briefing Meeting. They will be your first point of contact in Cuba and will provide you with an emergency number. They can assist you in booking excursions and day trips, and share valuable local information.

Transfer to Havana

You will transfer to your accommodation in a modern, air-conditioned car. Enjoy your first glimpses of the city and take in its electric atmosphere!

Day 2: Havana Old and New Tour

Today you will get acquainted with Cuba's capital city by taking a guided walking tour through the crumbling splendour of the historic neighbourhood of Habana Vieja (Old Havana), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wars and revolution have done little to damage its heritage, making it the finest example of a Spanish colonial city anywhere in the Americas. Stops on the tour include the impressive Museum of the Revolution, a tobacco house to see the cigar rolling techniques of the most famous cigars in the world, and the Havana Club Rum Museum for an insight into the history of Cuba’s most famous drink; as well as a chance to sample its delights! Lunch will be provided in an authentic Cuban restaurant.

Havana Old and New Tour - Part 2

Later, you’ll be collected in your chauffeur-driven, 1950s classic American car for a scenic two hour drive around the city during which you’ll see the major sites including the Malecon seafront drive, the elegant suburb of Miramar, and Revolution Square. The car will drop you back at your hotel and the evening is at your leisure. You might want to consider taking in a cabaret show at Havana’s famous Tropicana nightclub, which boasts more than two hundred performers, a fabulous orchestra, and astonishing acrobatic feats. We can arrange tickets for you.

Day 3: The Valley of Viñales

Havana to Viñales

Today we’ll travel to Pinar del Rio province, in the west of Cuba, and to the small village of Viñales located in a valley of the same name, which possesses some of Cuba’s most dramatic landscapes and is the world’s best tobacco growing region. The beautiful, fertile valley is surrounded by unusual limestone outcrops known as ‘Mogotes’. A visit here is a great way of gaining an insight into life in rural Cuba and you’ll be served a traditional Cuban lunch.

A Tour of Viñales

On the way in from Havana, you will enjoy a visit to a cigar factory and a working tobacco farm, where you will learn about the lifestyle of local farmers as well as about the growing of tobacco. In Viñales, we include a visit to the "Mural de Pre-history" where a history of evolution is painted in bright colours on the side of a Mogote, and an underground boat ride in the "Cueva del Indio", one of Viñales' many fascinating caves.

Afternoon at Leisure

The afternoon is at your leisure and you’ll find an abundance of opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast; perhaps explore the landscape on horses or simply go for a stroll through the amazing valley. The terrace of the Los Jasmines Hotel, where you will stay, provides magnificent panoramic views of Viñales Valley. We highly recommend enjoying a cocktail by its pool whilst taking in the sunset over the limestone outcrops and lush tobacco fields.

Day 4: Cayo Levisa Excursion

Excursion to Cayo Levisa

You will visit the idyllic island of Cayo Levisa, accessible only by boat, home to white sand and turquoise waters. Your driver will drop you off at the port, granting you some time alone to enjoy the peace, tranquillity and breathtaking beauty of the islet. Lunch and the boat trip are included and your driver will pick you back up on mainland Cuba.

Day 5: Cienfuegos

Viñales to Cienfuegos

This morning you’ll be taken to the colonial port city of Cienfuegos, along the way, we’ll include a stop at the Peninsula de Zapata for a visit to a local crocodile farm. On arrival in Cienfuegos you will check into the Hotel La Union, one of the most charming boutique hotels in Cuba, before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, your guide will take you on a walking tour of this laid back maritime city, known as the 'Pearl of the South', due to its lovely location on a picturesque Caribbean bay. You’ll see the city’s well preserved colonial centre and learn about its proud musical tradition and its famous musicians such as Benny More

Evening in Cienfuegos

The evening is at your leisure. We recommend relaxing at the hotel pool or enjoying a drink on the rooftop terrace, which offers unsurpassed views of the city and sea.

Days 6-7: Trinidad

Day 6: Trinidad

This morning you’ll be driven to the town of Trinidad a highlight of the island, which is often referred to as the Soul of Cuba. On arrival there will be a tour of the main sights of the town. Founded in 1514 by the Spanish conquistador Diego Velasquez, Trinidad was, for two hundred years, a major centre for trading sugar and slaves. The wealth generated by the landowners during the region's dark past is reflected by the stunning colonial architecture found in Trinidad's historic centre, which has been completely restored and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Discover Trinidad

After exploring the cobbled streets of the town, and having lunch in a local restaurant, you may wish to consider a short trip out Playa Ancón, the beautiful beach just a few miles out of town – your guide/driver will be happy to take you. In the evening check out an Afro-Cuban cultural performance or some traditional live music before perhaps heading to the Disco Ayala – a local nightclub located in a cave!

Day 7: Day at Leisure

Today is at your leisure to relax on the beautiful beaches of Playa Ancon or further explore the town. If you’re feeling more energetic you could consider a day trip to the Gran Parque Natural Topes de Collantes, a forested natural park known for its hiking and bird watching where you’ll also find refreshing rivers and waterfalls where you can swim. There are several other interesting places locally that your guide/driver can take you to.

Days 8-10: Cayo Santa María

Day 8: Journey to Cayo Santa María

Today we will transfer you to Cayo Santa Maria an island paradise on the northern coast of Cuba where you will spend four days relaxing. It has long, powder white sand beaches lapped by warm turquoise waters. Along the way, you’ll stop in the city of Santa Clara, a key location in the history of the Cuban Revolution. . We visit several fascinating historical sites, including the massive Che Guevara monument and mausoleum, his final resting place. After lunch in a local restaurant you’ll continue to Cayo Santa Maria where dinner will also be available at you All-Inclusive resort.

Cayo Santa María: Beautiful, Secluded Beaches

Two days of free time with all meals and drinks included. Cayo Santa Maria offers secluded beaches and is one of the country’s best kept secrets. With less than ten hotels and over 50kms of spectacular beaches it remains largely development-free and is the ideal choice for those wishing to simply relax and unwind. The waters around the island offer a variety of activities, including snorkelling, diving, fishing and bird watching – indeed, nearly 200 species of birds are found on the island including herons, ibis, pelicans, cormorants and oystercatchers.

Day 11: Departure from Havana

Transfer to Havana Airport

You will be collected from your hotel and taken to Havana airport for your departure flight. Most flights are in the evening but if you have a very early departure we may need to reduce your stay in Cayo Santa Maria by one night and replace this with a final night in Havana.

Hotel Sevilla

Located on a calm street in Old Havana next to Paseo del Prado, the Hotel Sevilla is just five minutes away from the historic centre and the Old Quarter's main. Built in 1880, Hotel Sevilla stands out due to its unique architecture and exquisite decor, inspired by the Moorish motifs of the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain. The hotel offers a number of excellent services and facilities (including a street-level pool flanked by palm trees, and evening entertainment on a stunning rooftop terrace). Owned by a Uruguayan gangster in the 1940s, the hotel has a rich history, and has welcomed a series of notable guests (including Al Capone, Enrique Caruso and Josephine Barker). The Hotel Sevilla is an irresistible choice as it is one of the few 4 star hotels in Old Havana with a pool.

Hotel Los Jazmines

Built in the 1960s, Los Jazmines is a beautiful, grand pink mansion, and a wonderful attraction in itself. Perched on the top of a hill, at the very edge of the valley, Los Jazmines boasts spectacular views, and a tranquil setting for those who wish to sit back, unwind and relax - basking in all the beauty, sights and attractions that the Valley de Viñales has to offer.

Hotel La Union

Founded in the late 1890s, Hotel La Union is one of the oldest hotels in Cienfuegos. A beautiful example of neo-classic design, Hotel La Union has an open-air courtyard, pool, restaurant and beautifully decorated rooms, and is a charming place to stay on a visit to this city.

Casa Osmary y Alberto

Easily spotted thanks to its bright-pink exterior, Osmary y Alberto is one of Trinidad’s largest and finest casas particulares. Its simple, comfortable rooms are dotted around a pretty courtyard full of greenery and woven hammocks for relaxing. The location is fantastic, with the main square just a short-walk away, though the excellent on-site restaurant and bar make a night-in a tempting option. The friendly owners can even organise private salsa dance lessons to be enjoyed on the grounds, best enjoyed before a round of Alberto’s cocktails!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria

Boasting breathtaking sea views, Playa Cayo Santa Maria is an idyllic place to unwind and spend time with loved ones. The popular beach resort boasts a wide range of services and superb all-inclusive package with unlimited access to all its seven bars, five restaurants and ice cream parlour and plenty of on-site entertainment. You can find six swimming pools (two exclusively for children) dotted around its lush foliage-filled grounds as well as gym, Finnish sauna, Turkish sauna and clubhouse. On the paradise beach, you can enjoy  non motorised water-sports as part of your all-inclusive package or simply chill out and enjoy the view.
